Meet Our New Writer!

Perhaps you have noticed a new byline and an increase in our writing materials. That is all thanks to our new staff member, Lisa A. Goldstein. Since The Eye & Ear Foundation has grown, we created a new writer position to help support our efforts. She started with us part-time September 20.

Goldstein understands our work from a patient perspective. Born profoundly deaf and raised to lipread and speak, she received a cochlear implant from the Eye & Ear Institute in 2006. Between that and the digital hearing aid she wears in her other ear, she has been to our building many times. Because she lipreads to communicate, she understands all too well how important vision is too.

Now she will be writing all about the Departments of Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology to help keep you updated. A longtime freelance journalist, Goldstein has a Master’s in Journalism from the University of California at Berkeley. She will put her skills to work wherever needed, including blogging about our webinars, updating our website, and writing articles for our newsletter.

On that note, we are excited to announce the launch of our new digital newsletter, a direct result of having Goldstein on board. The Scoop on Sight + Sound will be issued at the beginning of each month.

Goldstein can be reached at lisa@eyeandear.org.
