Barry M. Schaitkin, MD, retired in August from the University of Pittsburgh Department of Otolaryngology. He was in practice for over 40 years.
“Barry Schaitkin was the consummate clinician with internationally recognized expertise in sialo endoscopy, facial nerve injury, and endoscopic sinus surgery,” Chairman Emeritus Dr. Jonas Johnson said. “Dr. Schaitkin also redefined resident education as our Program Director from 2005 – 2022. He and I had an agreement that he would continue as Program Director untiI I stepped down. Bonded to the end!”
Dr. Schaitkin graduated from Penn State College of Medicine in 1984 and did his residency at Hershey Medical Center. He was consistently listed as a top doctor in various regional guides like America’s Top Doctors, Castle Connolly America’s Top Doctors, and Pittsburgh Magazine.
